My name is Daria Kuvshinova, and my jewellery is inspired by the intricate patterns found in nature. In this year's collection specifically, I drew inspiration from the beautiful and complex structures of Voronoi diagrams, flowers, and wasp nest cells. Using 3D modelling and programming, I create designs that simulate the randomness and imperfections found in nature, resulting in truly unique pieces of jewellery.
The collection also features organic casts of real wasps, akin to the lost wax casting technique. As the organic matter is consumed by the casting process, a one-of-a-kind mold of a naturally deceased wasp is left behind, thereby underscoring the interplay between life and life-like.
I believe that art and technology can work together to create beautiful, thought-provoking pieces that connect us to the world around us. My use of 3D printing and casting (I do both myself in-house) allows me to highlight the relationship between the natural and the man-made, while my incorporation of plique-a-jour enamelling invites light into my designs as a symbol of life and creative power.
With my jewellery, I hope to inspire others to explore the connections between art, science, and the natural world, and to appreciate the intricate beauty that surrounds us every day.
